Are your greens sprayed with anything?

No. Our greens grow in sealed rooms designed to keep pests out, so we don't need to spray them with pesticides, herbicides or fungicides.

Got a minute?

See how we grow our greens, who’s behind them and why we started, all in under 60 seconds.

Why don’t they need spraying?

We control what enters our growing rooms.

Only authorised operators enter the growing areas, passing through an air shower and wearing protective clothing.

These measures help prevent pests from entering the farm, removing the need for pesticide sprays.

How do you know they're pesticide-free?

We've had our greens independently tested.

The National Measurement Institute, a NATA-accredited laboratory, tested our salad leaves for more than 200 pesticide, herbicide, fungicide and insecticide residues.

None of the tested residues were detected within the laboratory's reporting limits.

But doesn't hydroponic farming use chemicals?

Plants need nutrients to grow, whether they're grown in soil or water.

Our greens receive minerals such as nitrogen, potassium and calcium through the water around their roots. They're the same nutrients plants absorb from soil.

These nutrients help plants grow. They're not pesticides, and they're not sprayed onto the leaves.

So, are your greens organic?

Our greens aren't certified organic. The organic standards commonly used in Australia require crops to be grown in soil, whereas ours grow hydroponically.

Organic farming can also involve approved pesticides. We don't apply pesticide sprays, and we've independently tested our greens for residues.

Do I need to wash them?

No. Our greens are grown, harvested and packed in a controlled indoor environment and are ready to eat straight from the bag.

We don't wash them at the farm either. They're packed dry and chilled to maintain freshness.

What does that mean for you?

Fresh greens that are ready to eat, without washing, and grown without pesticide sprays.

And independent laboratory testing to back up our pesticide-free claim.

FAQs

Not technically. Water and the nutrients plants need are chemicals too. When we say pesticide-free, we mean we don't apply pesticides to our crops, and independent testing has found no detectable residues from the pesticides tested.

It means the laboratory didn't detect the tested substances at or above its reporting limits. The results help verify our growing practices, although they don't mean that every possible substance has been tested.

Our farm operates under food safety management systems and holds HACCP, HARPS and SQF certifications. Our greens are grown, harvested and packed in a controlled environment, ready to eat without washing.

No. We use conventional, non-GMO seeds, just like those used in traditional farming. Growing plants indoors doesn't change their DNA.

We don't wash, rinse or apply post-harvest treatments to our leaves. They're harvested, packed and chilled to maintain freshness.
